We’ve done extra things on this trip besides go to movies and sit in class. I had the chance to go to Inverness and Loch Ness over a weekend. A group of us took a bus up to Inverness, and stayed in a hostel. The hostel was nice. There was a common area, a kitchen, and then the different floors of rooms. Lucky for us, there were eight in our group, so we didn’t have to share space with anyone else. After a walk around Inverness, and dinner in a place called The Filling Station (very Americanized), we sat in the common room with the other guests and watched Shaun of the Dead. The following day, we took a six and a half hour tour of Loch Ness, stopping in Drumnadrochit and Corrimony Cairn. We spent a bit of time at Urquhart Castle, and then got a boat back up Loch Ness to Inverness. Drumnadrochit is where the Loch Ness Exhibition Centre is, and Corrimony Cairn is an old burial chamber (in the middle of the countryside). Urquhart Castle is not a working castle any longer. It was very windy the day we were there; I had to put my sunglasses on to be able to see without the wind in my eyes. Check it out for yourself:
